ASL - J89 Himmler’s House: Wow, this one is great but… hectic. The stacking in “Himmler’s House” became quite dense, this one would be so much better played on the DASL boards which for which it was designed. We screwed up a bunch of rules along the way but I lost fair and square!

ASL - BC7 Brigade Hill (2): A pretty good introductory PTO scenario although it does feel somewhat unbalanced. In the hands of a better player the Brits may have had a chance though. The Japanese did an excellent job defending, they timed their attacks very well with few errors.

A Victory Lost (2): The Germans put up a much better defense and actually held off for the better part of the game. For us, playing Germany is proving very difficult to figure out. Another win for the Russians.

ASL SP111 - Why At Erp: Reminiscent of the Starter Kit scenario Retaking Vierville with roles reversed. Same map but with the Americans attempting to break units in the victory hexes.
Good fun but a little basic, a nice bridging scenario for new players.

ASL A32 - Zon With the Wind: An excellent scenario but can be tricky for the attacker. Getting around those 88s isn’t easy on the Americans.

ASK S16 - Legio Patria Nostra: Not a bad scenario. Lots of room for maneuver for the attacking Free French. Good fun.

ASL SK15 - Hammer to the Teeth (2): Our second play of this one saw the Germans getting a good foothold on the town and managing to hold out against the Americans and their reinforcements. This and 88’s At Zon are probably my two favorite Starter Kit scenarios.

ASL SK13 - Priority Target (2): My first play of Priority Target. Looking back it’s hard to see how the Allies with their three artillery pieces have a chance of winning the game. There is a ton of cover on every flank due to the grain fields being in season. Still fun though.

Shifting Sands (2): The Allies failed to hold Khartoum so the card I had been hanging onto (Egyptian Uprising) could be played as my very last action of Turn 2. And because my opponent had nothing garrisoning Port Said and Suez, I put the Egyptians right into those two supply spaces thus securing the win.

ASL Starter Kit - S12(2): Over Open Sights was fun but bloody. As the attacker I was chewed to pieces thanks to some incredible ROF tears. I really want to give this one another go soon.

ASL Starter Kit - S15(2): Hammer to the Teeth is a pretty fun scenario. The Germans get a big 81mm MTR to play with, the Americans a couple of AT Guns with limited HE ammo. First play through using VASL, we’ve kicked off another game after swapping sides.
The Germans were well and truly chewed up before getting close to their victory conditions.

All played online.

Eastfront (2): Played the 1941 Summer scenario. The Germans failed to move quick enough into Russia and strong enemy lines developed to slow the blitzkrieg. Russia took the the victory easily.

Bonapart at Marengo (2): This game has been an uphill battle for me. The rules are short but quite sophisticated so getting them to sink is has been a challenge. Couple that with the mechanisms being entirely different to any other game out there.
Now that I’ve played via PBEM it all makes sense. Had a lot of fun and can now see the strategies of each side opening up. Can’t wait to play again.

The Russian Campaign (2): The Germans did better than any other game we had played, they survived the sudden death victory conditions and captured Rostov moving deep into Russia in the North and South. My opponent pulled out of the game at turn 5 due to other commitments. One day we will get a full game of this completed!

BattleLore(2): Played scenario 2. A close game, finally won by two flags.

C&C Ancients Scenario 10 - Jaxartes(2): Played Alexander and managed to win with by 3 flags. Very Difficult on the Scythian played.

I’ve been playing online so much lately I thought it would be a good idea to start recording plays.

BattleLore (2): Won my first Vassal game against a new player. Plays OK online but not even close to live.

BattleLore(2): Against a more experienced player. Much, much tougher.

BattleLore(2): Taught another player how to use Vassal, so far this month three people have been coaxed into learning the online interface. More opponents!!

BattleLore(2): Another Vassal game but a very close loss. The standard of play online is quite good.

Eastfront (2): Just finished a game against Doug. We started with the Summer ‘41 scenario which ended in a draw so continued to Winter. Great fun but very hard on the German player.

Twilight Struggle (2): First Vassal game of TS. Wow, great fun.

Twilight Struggle (2): Second TS game after swapping sides. So far the USA have won both games. Looking forward to figuring out the USSR strategy.
